Jacqueline KIYOMI Gordon, "Sound/Space/movement research" / EMPac, 2014

System Design + Spatialization

MPC designed sound, consulted, and helped spatialize this 32 channel piece for Jacqueline Gordon which was part of her research residency at EMPAC.

Video documentation of Jocelyn Tobias recording/moving though an installation created for research and conducted during residences at the The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) in Troy, NY.

Moveable walls built out of materials that ranged from acoustically absorptive to reflective were configured into different arraignments with the sound system. I worked with choreographers Joanna Kotze, Julian Barnett and Jocelyn Tobias to get feedback and develop a vocabulary for movement, sound and performance.
